The Wonder that is ME!!!

So I've been gone a while because of life and physical health, nothing bad just a pulled muscle in my back and sitting at the computer wasn't working out real well!

Anyway, with talking with people that are following this blog, I've had a few questions come my way that I thought I should take time to answer!

1. What is my username?
Roseyjt~ Rosey is a nickname because Roses are my favorite flower, pink especially, really any color but Red because it is just too overdone, but all the others I love! JT is also another nickname and just so happens to be my first and middle name initials... coincidence no?! haha Evidence of the love of Roses can be found in my M&G pics with Taylor here: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v460/jtskagen/Taylor%20Hicks%20Grease%205-29-09/ Look closely at the shirt then keep looking at Taylor!!! hehehe

2. How has my life been living in a wheelchair?
Interesting! The best answer is what everyone has said that is in a wheelchair or has any other outstanding physical or mental difference, being so obvious in public is like being famous but without all the glamour! Well there's glamour it is just a lil more 'real' as compared to Hollywood glamour which is... not real! Going out has become a bit more touch and go since I got my license a few years ago! I love the independence but not really being able to see over the dashboard and driving a van and then lack of parking... fun times!!! As for everyday life, cooking is an adventure. Cooking also happens to be one of my favorite things to do... salad pinchers/tongs have become like an extension of my arms when I'm in the kitchen by myself! Also have to confess, the real inspiration for actually starting this blog was after I saw the movie, "Julie & Julia", a movie based on a woman learning to cook by cooking from Julia Child's cookbook and then blogging about it! Another interesting everyday chore... laundry! Laundry rooms need to be bigger!!! That's all I'm saying! Dressing can even be interesting since I do it on the floor! Showering and beautifying myself... tricky! Not tall enough for the mirrors for applying makeup or doing my hair so handheld mirrors are my friend! Mirrors by the way are not used when I shower! *shudders*

3. What kind of music do I listen to? What made me start listening to Taylor?
Everything but Country! Not a fan! Sorry to any followers this may offend! I am convinced that I'm an old soul and was supposed to be the age I am now in like the 60's... yeah that would be at least be twice the age I am now! *sigh* The invention of a time machine can not come fast enough for me! I love Rock, Pop, R&B and anything stemming from those! Taylor has all of those styles or at least touches on them here and there! What made me start listening? Well I was alread sitting down, all I had to was shut up and listen! I highly recommend that technique to everyone! You will not be disappointed! That's the answer to that question: short, sweet and simple! Which can also be used to describe me! LOL

Anywho I think that's the best I can do with answering the questions! If you would like to know more just leave the questions or comments with your comments here! I will do my best to get to them! Hopefully Brendon and Carole will reveal some things about themselves soon! Or maybe you all could give them questions and they can take it from there! *wink wink* *nudge nudge*

Again thank you for showing interest in this blog and I hope you will continue to read it and that I never bore you! hehe

Rolling my way into the Soul Patrol!

So the story of how this group came about is as follows:

It was sometime in 2006 that we, this group of people, were watching the reality TV show of "American Idol" when we saw "the gray haired guy" standing in line waiting his turn to audition. We were all interested in what this guy had to share with his voice. As he stood out in the crowd just as we do and usually those that do have the most interesting things to say and do. We should know and as will all who end up following this blog, because this is where it is going to be said. Anyway continuing on with watching the show, the audition... the admiration was in full force from this point on! Amazing doesn't begin to cover it, yet he wasn't like any other 28 year old that anyone had actually ever seen. Yet his sincerity and soul that came out through his singing is something anyone can recognize with any of greats in the music industry. This aspect of him is something that I can relate to because of looking like your average 26 year old young woman with the exception of when you see my wheelchair, you can see that there might be something just a lil bit different with me, just like listening to Taylor Hicks sing then looking at his hair! Shortly after this guy had taken the title of American Idol, winning Season 5, I had started looking around for places on the internet where others also shared the same admiration I had and still have! I found a few, but one in particular wasn't until a few years later when www.taylorhickshq.com launched and there I would finally find my place in the world in what is affectionately known as the "Soul Patrol"!!! As a whole we are the Soul Patrol, but as individuals we are referred to as Soul Patrollers... and yes it took me a while to see that if I had typed out soul in all caps and then left the pat in the patrollers small and made the emphasis on rollers, that I had something pretty fun there and that could be used to introduce myself in a way that would break the ice in a very goofy way that I'm fully aware of btw! I had tried to introduce the SOUL patROLLERS at other sites and really only got the minimum response, until late May and then officially had a definite response on June 13th, 2009! When I heard from my now fellow ROLLERS Brenda and Brendon, Brendon being the actual member with his Brenda as his spokesperson! Brenda had started a thread thanking me for sending Brendon his "official" t-shirt! How that came about was I given the incredible opportunity to meet Taylor after his performance in "Grease", playing the role of the Teen Angel, when I had purchased the Meet and Greet package deal. I had brought along gifts for him and wanted him to sign or put his stamp of approval on my ROLLERS t-shirt that had had made up before the idol tour had even started! Taylor did seem to like the idea of the SOUL patROLLERS and I got his approval and that gave Brenda the idea to allow Brendon to join me in whatever this group is or may become! The group as of right now is at a grand total of: 3... yeah! Our third member is a woman named Carole, which I'm still working with to make her final arrangements in joining our crew!

So really in short, I wanted to start putting together not only a group, but a friendship of people that not only understand what it's like to stand out but wanting to do something fun and positive and yet still be part of the crowd with something that you can recognize yet just a different way of looking at it, that's all! Taylor stands out because of his hair and the style of music he chooses to entertain with and we stand out for the way we choose to live our lives. Chair and hair aren't that different in this case, it's only what you C. I would like for people to find the things they have in common with people not just to focus on what's different! The Soul Patrol has given a lil bit of freedom to be more of who I am and not much can do that! Trust me! That's why I'm glad I decided on going through with creating something and I can only hope that this will help those that are just like Brendon, Carole and myself to come out of their shells and be comfortable as part of a group that happens to enjoy the same guy! We need to not be afraid of showing people, Taylor fans or not, that we are not ashamed but proud to be the example of the "Wheel Deal of Whomp"!!! lol I hope more members are to come! Even if you're just wanting to become followers and not post, it's ok with me! I can't wait to meet you!
